QuantumOS X3 vs Salesforce Commerce Cloud

SFCC charges 1–3% of GMV. At $5M that is $150,000/yr in platform fees alone — before your SI partner, Marketing Cloud, Service Cloud, or Einstein. X3 Enterprise starts at $30,000/yr flat with POS, email, AI, and WMS included. This page shows what you get for the difference.

The SFCC reality

What Salesforce Commerce Cloud actually costs

SFCC pricing is GMV-based, typically 1–3% of gross revenue. At $5M GMV that is $50k–$150k per year just for the platform. At $20M GMV you are paying $200k–$600k annually — before a single line of customisation is written.

That platform fee does not include email marketing (Marketing Cloud), customer service (Service Cloud), field service (Field Service Lightning), or AI (Einstein). Each of those is a separate licensed product with its own annual contract, negotiated separately, through a separate account executive.

SFCC also requires a certified Salesforce implementation partner (SI) for initial build and ongoing development. SI day rates for senior commerce architects run $250–$500/hour. A mid-complexity SFCC implementation typically costs $500k–$2M in SI fees on top of the platform license.

Contracts are minimum 12 months, quote-only (no public pricing), and require executive sponsor approval cycles that typically add 8–12 weeks before work begins.

Where SFCC wins

When Salesforce Commerce Cloud is the right call

  • Existing Salesforce ecosystem

If your org runs Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, and Marketing Cloud deeply, SFCC plugs into those shared objects, flows, and orgs natively. Re-platforming to X3 means replumbing those integrations via API.

  • Enterprise credibility requirements

Procurement teams at Fortune 500 companies and regulated industries sometimes require vendors on the Gartner Magic Quadrant. SFCC satisfies that checkbox in a way a newer platform cannot.

  • Salesforce relationship leverage

Large enterprises with existing Salesforce ELAs can negotiate SFCC into the bundle at deep discounts — effectively reducing the GMV fee. If you already spend $5M+/yr with Salesforce, the math changes.

  • Regulated / financial services

SFCC has FedRAMP and HIPAA compliance certifications that matter in certain verticals. X3 is SOC 2 Type II and ISO 27001 — sufficient for retail — but SFCC's compliance surface is broader.

Where X3 wins

Why most commerce teams choose X3 instead

  • Flat pricing — revenue is yours

X3 charges a flat annual subscription regardless of GMV. A merchant going from $5M to $50M GMV pays the same platform fee. With SFCC at 3%, that growth costs an extra $1.35M per year in platform fees alone.

  • No SI dependency

X3 has no certified partner requirement. HyperBridge Digital onboards you directly. Engineers and implementation specialists are employed by us — not a third-party SI billing $350/hr.

  • 90-day migration, not 18 months

X3 ships with an automated migration kit covering products, customers, orders, and content. The guided onboarding program gets most merchants live within 60–90 days of contract signing.

  • All-in-one — no stack sprawl

X3 includes POS, OMS, WMS, email marketing, loyalty, AI copilot, helpdesk, and conversational commerce in one subscription. SFCC requires separate licensed products for each of those capabilities.

  • Public pricing

Every tier is published at /pricing. No NDAs, no quote cycles, no 3-month procurement processes. Start a trial today and see the full platform before you sign anything.

Implementation timeline

6–18 months vs 90 days

SFCC implementations are complex because the platform is designed for SI partners who bill by the hour. Every project phase — scoping, architecture, development, QA — is billed separately. X3 flips this: guided onboarding is included, migration tooling is automated, and configuration is done through the admin UI rather than custom APEX or Commerce Cloud JavaScript controllers.

The GMV math

Why the pricing model matters more than the feature list

Commerce platforms are a cost-of-goods-sold line item. A 3% GMV fee is not a platform fee — it is a tax on your business that scales directly with your success. The faster you grow, the more you pay. SFCC at $10M GMV is $300k/yr in platform fees alone. At $50M GMV it is $1.5M per year — for platform access, not for infrastructure, not for features, not for support.

Honest recommendation

Who should still choose Salesforce Commerce Cloud

Salesforce Commerce Cloud is the right platform for a narrow category of buyer. If you are a very large enterprise — $500M+ GMV — already running deep Salesforce orgs across Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, CPQ, and Marketing Cloud, and you have negotiated SFCC into an enterprise license agreement that dramatically reduces the GMV percentage, the integration story is genuinely hard to match.

Similarly, if your IT procurement policy mandates vendors on the Gartner Magic Quadrant for Digital Commerce, or if your vertical requires FedRAMP authorization that SFCC provides and you have not evaluated X3's compliance posture, SFCC may be the default safe choice for your organisation.

For everyone else — merchants from $500k to $100M GMV, DTC brands, omnichannel retailers, B2B distributors, multi-location food and beverage, or any team that does not already run a deep Salesforce stack — X3 delivers equivalent or superior commerce capabilities at a fraction of the total cost.

Who X3 is built for

The merchants who move fastest on X3

  • DTC brands doing $500k–$50M GMV who want 0% GMV fees instead of 1–3%
  • Multi-location retailers needing unified POS + OMS + ecom in one system
  • B2B distributors adding a buyer portal without a separate B2B Commerce license
  • Food & beverage brands running outlets, delivery, and catering from one backend
  • Teams migrating off Shopify Plus, Magento, or legacy open-source stacks with a budget under $50k all-in
  • Operators who cannot absorb 12 months of SI fees before their first transaction
  • Engineering teams who want direct platform access — not an account executive chain
Migration offer

Move from SFCC to X3 in 90 days

The automated X3 migration kit handles products, customers, and order history. No SI partner, no 6-figure implementation contract, no 18-month runway. The Value Store and Just Buy Cycle both migrated off legacy platforms — complete catalogs, full order history — and are live handling real traffic today.
