Voice Commerce Is Coming. Here's How to Be Ready

Your grandmother in Coimbatore already uses voice search to find things on her phone. She doesn't type "tamil traditional sweet online buy" into a search box β€” she speaks it, in Tamil, into the microphone. The search engine transliterates, interprets, and returns results. She clicks through to your competitor because they came up first in voice search and their product page loaded in under a second.

Voice commerce is not a future trend for India. It's a present behaviour for a large and growing segment of customers who are more comfortable speaking than typing, who use regional languages that are underrepresented in traditional search, and who are adopting digital commerce for the first time through voice-first interfaces.

What Voice Commerce Actually Requires

Voice commerce isn't just voice search (though that's part of it). The full picture includes:
